hello all...
For a long long time ive been having trouble keeping zoas. Some colonies looks OK, while others stop opening up and then sometimes disappear overnight.
Today I got home and noticed 3 utter chaos polyps completely gone. I think that rules out disease right? Something is eating them if it happens overnight?
I thought it was pests for the longest time but ive used bayer here and there on irritated frags and never can find any baddies.
Theres a couple emerald crabs in the tank for some minor bubble algae... They wouldn't be a surprise but zoas have disappeared that have been on magnetic rock stations high in the tank so it doesn't make sense that they are the culprit.
I put in a blood red shrimp a month ago, but this has been happening for a year...
Fish list has none of the usual suspects... bangaii cardinal, royal gramma, clowns, firefish, yellow coris wrasse (hes pretty new, to eat potential pests that irritate zoas), and the tail spot blenny.
Ive been paying attention though Ive never caught him in the act. But I do see him resting near some zoas polyps that aren't all that happy. But that could be coincidence.
Its not a parameters thing and I'm thinking its not a bacteria/disease thing because they disappear overnight.
The blenny seems like it might be the evil doer. But, Id hate to evict him and be wrong.
Anyone ever have that experience with a tail spot?
