Okay, so my clownfish has been acting VERY strange today, it’s not the normal fins up and become territorial over the rock she hides in. She’s a Black Photon Clownfish (Amphiprion occelaris x Amphiprion percula) and she did have a mate - Well several over the past two years. She has become MUCH more territorial and looks like she’s almost fanning something under the Ricordea yuma she’s claimed.
Here’s a video of it (Sorry for the zoomed in iPhone effect - She behaves normally when I’m near the tank).

She has been doing that back and forth between being defensive and “Fanning” something (It’s a crevice in the rock under the Yuma so I can’t see much). Here’s a few photos of what she does:

Here’s the best photo I can get of the small gap she’s in and out of:

That’s interesting because she has always been near that coral so I wouldn’t have thought that. She has been in that coral for about a year, strange how she would only now try get it to host her.

If shes been in that coral for about a year then its already considered being "hosted"..... There isnt anything new that happens when being hosted by a coral or an anemone. Realistically its just another term for living with in.

If shes lived in that coral for about a year, whats she doing different now that she didnt before?

Looks like normal behaviour to me for a clown calling a coral home. The "fanning" is usually a way for them to clean the surface or the eggs if present but its usually very obvious its being done and im not seeing that in the video.

She never went all the way into the coral like she is now, she mainly hid under the edges of the rock where the coral was hanging off. She is also a lot more territorial over it, she usually just put her fins up and watched the smaller Lubbock display to her but now she goes up to the fish and actually fights them away. She also goes towards the larger fish when they’re getting close to her coral. She also didn’t dive right into the Center as much, now she does it much more often and just sits there waving her fins around under the coral.
