Could this happen

So I have a couple snails in my tank and they seem to have been dying recently there is plenty of food for the hermit crabs and shells . But now I saw this today and think the hermit crabs are killing the snails is that possible as he is inside the snails shell

Hermit crabs can kill snails for new shells. Also if they are starving. Add some shells. You can buy a bag on amazon or get some at a lfs.

Escargot!
Crabs, of most types, eat anything they can catch, including slow or sleeping fish.
5 years ago now, I removed every single crab, and since, have all my inhabitants including snails.
I think crabs are an LFS conspiracy so they can replace snails forever.

Hehe I like it. crabs are naughty little jerks. I had some blue legs get a taste for gsp.

LOL....hate them, always trouble, and they actually don’t consume much algae or detritus, and at the same time, increase the load on the tank.

For years I wondered “what happened” to this and that, or why is that coral retracted?
Now I know....cheers

I don't add hermits to my displays any more, they always murder my snails for their shells and I find snails and urchins more beneficial for algae control.
