I should have titled this Would You Test The TDS of Your Dehumididier Water. If you do not have any smokers in your house, have a dehumidifier in your basement and have a hand held tds meter could you test the tds of your dehumidifier water and report the results? I am wondering what the result would be.
Thanks

Mine seems extremely high, but the water in my dehumidifier came in at about 18 PPM

Thanks. I am wondering if my dehumidifier water would be ok to use while I am being slow about ordering new refills for my rodi. Can we fet a couple more tests for more data?

Not sure, idk if I'd risk it though...but it's your call.

lol you really can't get accurate results from someone else equipment, too many variables in play

I've tested mine before and it wasn't worth using I think it was around between 12 and 20 ppm. I wouldn't risk it. Borrow some from a local reefer or trade him something for it. I won't use anything over 5 ppm myself.

I was just going to say some have copper coils. Other might have other metals. Remember tds tells nothing of what solids are dissolved. 1 tds would be bad if it's all copper for example.
Good point! The water may not be on the coils long enough to absorb any of the copper, but as I said earlier, why risk it.

The coils on a dehumidifier are essentially wet all the time. So "contact time" is really not the issue. There is plenty chance for some metals release. Whether it does or not I don't know.

I was told never use the water to drink or for fish.....water will contain pollutants from the air, cig smoke, air freshener chemicals and cleaning chemicals just to name some and more stuff...yuck!!! Plus it may contain copper if not from the pipes in it, maybe from the soldering used. But it can be use for plants. To think about it...it's probably safer to drink then the water that was coming out of my faucet or what's coming out now...that they say is safe now as long as it's filtered. Words from the same people (criminals) that said it was safe in the beginning. You guessed right...I live in Flint.
