Couldn't pass up this Neon Pink BTA!

I was at a very small (garage ran) LFS today and this guy sells everything at extremely reasonable prices. He also has a ~600g setup at his home that he has no problem with showing. While checking out his critters I noticed he had two AMAZING looking neon pink BTAs in the DT. I asked him about them and he said it has babies all the time and he had three babies to part with if I was interested. Of course I said yes and when he told me all he wanted was $20 it was a no brainer. Anyways, I haven't seen many "pink" anemones, how common are these?

This was it in his frag tank.

Here it is settling in its new home in my DT.

Typicall from my experience, any pink BTA's are usually due to previous bleaching. Hope it stays that color because it is sweet!!!

He's had the momma of this bta for 5+years and the momma is the same exact color except about a 1' diameter. He has an awesome setup and has been in the hobby for over 20 years, and decided to open a aquatic store. I do t thinks he's bleached them. He has 5 total of these bta's at his home and some in different tanks under 3 different light setups, they all look the same.

With the right care and conditions that anemone will color up. It is def bleached and so is the mother if it looks like that.

It is lacking symbiotic algea and will color up nicely

Nice nem 20$ great price. looks to be bleached out. With time it will color up , make sure you feed it.

How could the nem be bleached this way under three different light setups. And very high end lighting I might add.

That is a sweet bta. Although that may be its true color, it does indeed look bleached. Either way it's a win/win. The pink is awesome but if it sadly turns red, $20 for a red bubble tip anemone is a great deal. You are a lucky guy either way. Nice find.

It is possible in the wild for anemones to lack zooxanthela(sp) Something causes the algea to not be able to full populate the anemone. Giving it a see through washed out look. In a different tank with different water condition that anemone could and probably will color up much darker and nicer.

I actually have photos of anemone that look like yours and then after proper care and feeding turn orangey red. I am lookin for them now.

Well we shall find out! I hope it keeps this color. It's under kessil 360we's now. The momma in his DT tank is under two Vertex Illumina SR260's.

This is the anemone when i first got it same kinda pink color from lack of symbiotic algea

A month later when i pulled it to sell it. I fed it a pink nail amount of mysis a day for a month.

Oh wow. That's interesting. How often you think I should feed it? Also it's been reacting crazy fast to LRS reef frenzy. Should I just stick to mysis or should it be ok to mix it up?

Whatever you feed make it small and no bones or anything(NO Silversides). Start with every other day, if it accepts the food you can do everday but make it smaller portions.

I personally wouldn't feed an anemone every day. I think once a week is sufficient - just a small amount. With good lighting, there's no need to feed a lot. Beautiful nem to the OP!

I have several clients using our Reef Frenzy food to propagate various anemones so I would think the diverse ingredients would certainly not hurt your situation. Thanks for using our product in your aquarium!
