I took these this afternoon in the Indian Ocean just north of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. They were the first zoanthids I've seen in the wild, so I thought they were cool enough to post
Not terribly exciting morphs, but a little different than anything I've seen in the hobby. Habitat was a rock jetty (technically a "groyne"...please refrain from the obvious comments here) in about 6 feet of water in a spot that is exposed at low tide. It's an area that is far from pristine along a highly modified beach with pretty high nutrient levels, extremely intense lighting, and moderate to poor water clarity. I snorkeled for several hours in a marine reserve nearby in much better condition and didn't see any zoas at all (though the sps and fish diversity was nuts).
Enjoy!
