#1 - I have 2 Oscellaris Clowns and they have been doing fine and getting along. Today when I got home I noticed that 1 of them is attacking the other and it has 2 places out of its tail. The 1 is constantly chasing the other around and snapping at it. Should I take the one that is being chased out of the tank for now?

#2 - 120 gallon tank, 40 sump been running about 3 months. All of the perameters or good right now. Nitrates 0, Nitrites 0, Salinity 1.024, Alk 100. Tank has been clean and crystal clear for about 2 months. After about 1 month with 6 fish in it the tank is now growing brown fuzz on sand and everything. Is this a process the tank will go through? Water is still good and clear. Do I need to add anything or let it run its cycle?

Thanks

Clowns that are put in tanks as "pairs" eventually have to choose which sex they will be. The larger will turn female and be more dominant. The smaller will be male. Sometimes if they are the same size, they will fight until one wins out and becomes dominant(female).

All new tanks go thru numerous little cycles of various algaes. So it's nothing to worry about really. It should clear itself up if you keep up with your water changes and dont overfeed and have good filtration.

BTW, your Alk is way too low. What test kit are you using?

Here is a good link to know what your parameters should be. I have this bookmarked:
Reef Aquarium Water Parameters by Randy Holmes-Farley - Reefkeeping.com

Thanks, I was starting to flip out.

I will watch them a little closer and see what is going on with them, didnt want one to be sick and the other to pick on him till he dies. I got them at the same time and put them in the tank together. They have been fine till today. I just noticed that when the lights went off the calmed down.

For the filtration I have a glass holes 3000 that runs to 2 socks and into the sump and back to the tank. Its a very simple setup with nothing fancy. I dont over feed and if they dont eat it all I take it out of the tank. I have been doing water changes 15 gallons 2 times a month.

I try to keep the Alk at 120 range, is that still to low? I added Alk this morning and have been watching it. I have a master Hanna kit that has everything in it, but the colors are hard to read sometimes.

Dowtish, thanks for the link I saved it.

Master hanna? Hannas don't have colors. They are digital. It must be something else.

Your alk should read something 3.0meq/l or 9dkh. Duno what 120 is i assume ppm? But not sure how that translates. If using a hanna alk checker you should have a conversion rate to get meq/l or dkh

Sorry I was wrong. Its a Hagen or Nutrafin master test kit. I have been looking for something better so I can read it easier. I tried to look at the OZ Reef page but it will not let me from home.
