May not handle moisture well but more so, you don’t want to block atmospheric airWhat do you think of using this for a cover for a Rubbermaid stock tank? It’s pretty solid feeling.

why do you want to cover it? To keep a house pet out or to reduce evaporation? Then we could better answer your question.
but in a nutshell, screen or foam, or plywood for that will keep something out or fish in if you have fish in your sump.
if it is an evaporation issue then you will get best results with some sort of thin plastic placed over the top of the tank.
