Hey guys so Ive had this cowfish for a little over a week... It was in my main tank which is a 120 gal but i noticed its tail getting bit so he is now in my sump but I still cant get him to eat anything at all. Any ideas?!

Clams on the half shell often work. A low stress, low flow environment helps too.

Yea right now its in the sump alone so im hoping tht will help him to start eating but anything i put it just ignores it but i havent tried anything in a shell. Ive tried many frozen foods and silversides but no luck. It just runs away!

I've tried to of these guys in my 300 with no luck. Like eat breakfast said low flow and low stress environment will be the best for it. They have great personalities once they get comfortable and eating. Has his coloration changed? They typically turn darker when they are stressed.

You are right once they start eating they have such great personalities. I loved my first one so much tht i keep trying to get one just like it but now im on my 5th one so it may be time for me to give up on them. They all keep dieing off :/. His color is pretty much the same yellow n no discoloration but i have no idea how he is still alive n not have eaten a thing. Idk if i should put him back in the main tank or just leave it in the sump for now? Do they ever eat silversides?

U can try silversides. Mine ate lrs reef frenzy like a champ. Short term it'll be ok in sump if it starts to eat. Long term it needs to have lots of space. Wishing u the best!

I've never had cowfish go crazy for siversides.

How big is the cowfish? Smaller ones usually go after hikari mysis, medium ones, Piscine mysis, larger ones, table shrimp. At all sizes, clams on the half shell.

Its about 4 inches i would say. Im leaving a piece of shrimp over night in hopes he eats. This is the 1st time ive left food overnight so hopefully the water does not get too bad

It should be fine, just remove what's uneaten in the morning.
