I was just wondering how *reef safe* they are and what your guys input on them cause i want one and my lfs just got one in for me if i want it.

Mixed reviews....

Some say if they get a tiny bit stressed with release toxins that with kill everything and crash the tank..........and others say thats a silly myth they are fine even seen a few videos were it died but the tank was still ok.

Also reef safe normally implies they wont pick at corals and the clean up crew...Id expect a cowfish to at least go after shrimp like a puffer would do but wouldnt think it be a problem with corals.

BUT...I've never owned one, but always liked them. Im ok pushing the tank size, to fish will grow size some...but 18-20"s is to much for any tank I've ever owned by far. lol

I mean I'm not to worried bout the stressed part I feel that's more like neglect on the dying fish well See how if it decided it wants to nip at food with proper feeding then it's gone

They will eventually pick at open brain corals, pipe organs, and duncans, sometimes at Euphyllia, too. Very cool. Very personable. Safe with leathers and mushrooms though.

I have even see them eat aiptasia.

See that's not what I wanna hear cause I love my lps and I do want the fish now I just gotta decide if the risk is gunna be worth it
