Safe to treat with CP so long as you get your CP from a source like diamondback that requires a RX from a Vet.
Also you will want to use a newly setup QT to prevent degradation from biofilm.

That raises a question... How long does it take for CP to kill pods that may be fed? I asked Humblefish when on the phone and he said "Sounds like an experiment", but maybe someone knows

I use CP tablets, we can't get powder in the UK at the moment. I've run a few fish through them with no issues but thought I'd best check re mandarin.
I had some tiny CB azure damsels in Qt which I was feeding live BBS. CP at 10mg/l didn't kill the BBS so it may be that pods can survive it too?
My mandarin is already fat and I'll be using a BBS feeder so should be okay food-wise.

I QT'd my Mandarin with CP for 10 days then transferred to a clean system. I took a big chunk of chaeto from my sump and put it in the tank with him. I pulled the old chaeto and added new at the 5 day point. Fish did great and always had pods.

I was imagining using CP, but even though it would cost more having to move to a new tank pretty regular just due to pods dying. Overfeed and move. If pods survive CP then it gets easier I'm NOT risking anything without CP or copper any more
