Search “ick shield new life spectrum on amazon “ they are a reputable company and here’s a vet telling you he uses it and it works. Not to ment it’s not ridiculously priced.

I’ve seen it great video but he did not say he use new life spectrum ick shield cp he was saying that’s how we can get it without a vet or doc writing a script. He did explain how he use CP and what bacteria’s it kills.

That's not cp, hence why you can get it without a prescription:

right, so its not CP. I am not saying it doesn't work the same (have no idea and personally i would never use it because all the research ive seen by humblefish is on CP not that), but its not CP. one ion can make a massive difference, or not. I have no idea. I just wanted to clarify that for everyone involved. maybe dosage is different and someone buys that and uses CP dosage and kills a $800 fish in qt, i dunno! Happy reefing

That's not cp, hence why you can get it without a prescription:

It's not chloroquine phosphate. It contains chloroquine but doesn't specify the phosphate ion, so it's not the same. Another concern is the purity of the product/dosage vs pharmaceutical cp.

Chloroquine phosphate is simply the salted form of chloroquine. The pharmacokinetics of the two compounds are the same. That said, it's probably best to stick to CP and get a script for it to ensure its purity.

I’m not sure he’s pushing ick shield he’s simply mentioning that’s a source, if this were a commercial for ick shield there would be more emphasis on were to obtain it and from who “imo”. Keep in mind chloroquine is the active ingredient in cp not phosphate. Also keep in mind I’m not a chemist so with that said “I suspect” the phosphate is there for a reason, for example to bind the chloroquine or help protect the chloroquine thru the first pass through the liver to keep the liver from removing it idk for sure also I agree with you how come it’s available from new life without a prescription? My answer to this is the same as why you can buy it in other products like DR G’s medicated fish eggs this products active ingredient is chloroquine. I suspect chloroquine phosphate requires a script, leave out the phosphate and it don’t idk.
I would love to hear humblefish opinion.

In any case ick sheild won’t cure ick and especially not velvet ime. It can help control either but it doesn’t affect the free swimming forms the way cp does and many fish will not eat it even while they will readily take other foods. It can be a tool in the box but don’t expect miracles with it. HTH

The reason why I say pushing it is because he’s a vet and said that cp is in it and that’s how we may get cp without a script pushing may have been the wrong word to use. But when people see a vet saying get this it works what that usually means [emoji23]but I do understand what you are saying.
I really just want to know if it pure so I can get it cause it’s problems getting a script.

It all comes down to purity. Does NLS and/or their supplier test the Chloroquine they are selling to ensure it is 99% pure or better? If not, what other ingredients does it contain? It has been my experience, and also others, that only 99% pure (or better) Chloroquine reliably eliminates ectoparasites. <99% pure has been very hit or miss. These experiences are only anecdotal, but IMO being 99% pure is a fine little point which should not be ignored.
