I am treating a new tang with CP for ich. My question is do I have to move it to a clean tank for observation after 30 days or just strip the medication with a carbon filter? That would assump CP will somehow damage the tomont cysts after extended period of exposure like copper does?

If you are using CP at 40ml/gal strength (or more) I would only do 3 weeks max. You will notice decline in health and appetite over longer exposure. Simple water changes is all you need after treatment. With lights on and water changes CP will rid itself. You can run carbon to fasten the process.

Note: no medication so far in market attacks ich in its cyst form.
CP attacks Theronts stage in which free swimming tomites have been released from their cysts looking for host fish.
theronts are normally released only between the hours of 2:00 am and 9:00 am, to increase their change of finding sleeping fish closer to rocks and substrate.
