So I was wondering for those that prefer to use Chloroquine Phosphate in QT, how do you deal with the appetite suppression that ultimately happens with this medication?
I've gone through 4 separate QT regime with different batches of fish and each time the fish all stop eating at around day 7 to day 9.
I usually try everything from TDO and Spectrum pellets with varying pellet sizes to flake food, mysis and Rod's food soaked in selcon and garlic to nori on a clip and all are ignored whereas prior to day 7~9, most ate adequately.
Do people shorten the QT time from 30 to 14 days, do you dilute the amount of medication in the QT or do you ride it out?

TIA

I've started just going with 14 days more and more. A new, sterile tank so little biofilm and dose the CP on day one. Doing this does require a second sterile tank to move them to at that time though.

I have put about 75 fish through cp and have never had one stop eating during my 14 treatment period except a couple that stopped when general cure was added during cp treatment.

Nowhere near as many fish, but I'd agree there. I never noticed much, if any, appetite suppression from that alone. However, due to the biofilm questions I bumped my dosage up to 70mg/gal and did notice some. They didn't stop eating entirely, but an obvious reduction in appetite anyway. I didn't think to ask what dosage is being used though. Using only 14 days helps regardless unless not eating at all :)

Very strange, I only dose 40mg/gallon and have gotten appetite suppression all 4 times at around the same timeframe.

I actually have noticed some appetite suppression as well, although my dosage might have been a bit high because our scale isn’t the best and I was worried it would be too low. I’m planning to transfer at 14 days.

For fish that are difficult to get eating in the first place, unless there are signs of illness i tend to get the fish eating in an observation tank before treating, with a fw dip on day 2. Foods i keep on hand when i cant get them to eat are roe(i use lobster because i can source locally) and a few cultures of brine shrimp going. Ime this is enough to get them through till they move out of treatment. But others may have other experiences.

I have only run 15 or so fish through CP but have noticed appetite suppression on most occasions at 40mg/g. I have cut QT short for my bangaii, kole tang and mandarin to 10 days as they outright refused to eat and am considering doing the same for my azure damsels which have not eaten since entering CP 11 days ago, will leave them till 14 days then remove. I've had the most luck with angels- coral beauty, flame, majestic and blueline all continued eating.

All fish had been with me for a while and were feeding well before CP

Edit: I use tablets so not sure if this is a factor
