So I got this anemone for live aquaria just a hour ago and was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to keep it alive or is it just to far gone

The BTA shown appears to be attached and the tentacles do not look terrible. It, like any critter we get, is probably stressed to a degree. It would need to be acclimated with your tank water and after introduction normally takes a few hours to adjust. (not including finding its happy place) :)

I do not know much about your system regarding maturity, lighting, parameters and such to go into a lengthy discussion but most anemones will require proper lighting, flow, and a nice mature system.

He won’t be getting light till tomorrow because I don’t want to light shock the fish but I will feed him soon

Could you enlighten (no pun intended) about the light shock to fishes? May I ask the size of your tank and how long it has been set up, please?

I wouldn't feed him until he adjusts...I wouldn't worry about light shock to the fish...nems get most food from light from their photosynthetic Zooxanthellae...If you dont provide the right light right away, when it turns on he will then have to find a new spot

To sum it up...I wouldn't recommend feeding him, and i'd get him in the right light right when he's put in the tank

Don’t feed it. That will just cause it to close. I have never fed my BTAs and they look awesome despite my various attempts to accidentally kill them or their powerhead-chicken games.

Put it in your tank, cover the powerheads, and never touch/move/feed.

It’s a 20 gallon tank what intensity would you recommend

What do you currently run your tank at? Are you making this a tank just for anemones? I did that with a RSR Max Nano, but basically I would run it at about max

If your tank is doing fine with existing coral, I wouldn’t change anything

This is my first anemone I’ve only kept jellyfish and freshwater before this
