Hi All,

I recently bought a Large CPR HOB Fuge. Any recommendations on how to set up the fuge? Should I use miracle mud? Kind of lighting to fit the fuge? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Snoop

I just used live sand and rubble and chaeto and bought the light that went with the CPR.

I was thinking of doing miracle mud, some live rock, and chateo. One of my friends had recommended led strips from Amazon that glow blue and red to create the purple light.

i have the large cpr hob. i did a few variations, and have settled on some rubble rock and cheato. i have a cheap marine led strip lights (much like the fluval marine lights) that fit perfectly over the unit. i did cut a blue plastic cutting mat and placed it to block out the light that would spill into the tank since i run the fuge on a reverse schedule.

the cheato grows so well it forms a wall-to-wall brick that i need to heavily trim every two weeks. - lots of pods in there.

these are the $30 lights i bought that grow cheato like crazy

the hob does not surface skim - so you'll need to do that manually.

also, filter socks are not really feasible, so that is why i have no sand, mud or anything else beside a 1 inch bed of rubble rock (that helps keep the fuge from building up a lot of detritus and makes cleaning easier when you want to do that)

fwiw, i extended the pump to near the bottom of the tank with some rigid sprinkler tubing from home depot - if teh sump isn't surface skimming, i'd prefer the pump take from the lower section of the tank where these is likely more uglies that i want removed from the DT.
