Found this guy in my sps. He's not eating it, but might bother them.

Sump or trash?

Second on the emerald. It's a 50/50 gamble that they bother corals. I had two. The first ate my lps (loved the galaxea), the second just slept in my Duncan/zoa/hammer.

Never really looked emerald crabs carefully.lol.

This one hides in my sps instead of eating algae. sump it is.

One of mine likes to go all around the tank cleaning and the other hides under my bta

My rule of thumb, if the legal have hair then its bad...
Bad for sps that is...
It will not survive in the sump btw.

I have had them eat some of my corals before. It loved my Duncan's.

Where does that rule of thumb come from? Do crabs with hair end up being aggressive toward sps?

Pointed claws are usually a dead give away, case in point gorilla's. They can be very destructive.

Most of the harmful crabs to sps will have hairy legs. The one that are good for the acro are the one that have smooth porcelain body...
But this is jist my personal rule of thumb by no mean is an absolut rule...

They can become opportunistic feeders of tank occupants too. Crabs are crabs.
That is very true they are aggressive for sure. I make sure to target feed them to keep them calm. They will pinch me when I am adding a new frag or doing mantinence haha
