Crab ID colorful

What is it? How big do they get? What do you know about them? Will they kill fish? Currently 4 inches.

Weird. That looks like a striped shore crab, we have them in California. I don't think they are tropical crabs..

I can't help identify the type of crab, but if it is 4 inches the answer is almost always remove it.

Had a buddy of mine offer me it for mantis food, just never seen it before. Guessing the no air and heat might kill it before the mantis.
