Hello all, it’s been a really long time since I have posted anything. Think I’ll start getting active on R2R again.


Anyone know what these crabs are?

Some type of young Shore Crab! Maybe a Purple Shore Crab or if it comes from the Pacific down to Baja than a Lined Shore Crab.
You are correct, thank you. It’s a striped shore crab.

My granddaughter plucked them off the rocks @ Corona Del Mar beach in Orange County California. About two hours north of Baja.

You have to be careful with collecting in California coastal waters due to strict regulations. Luckily, Corona el Mar State Beach Park lies outside of California's Marine Protected Areas where the collection of crabs is legal.
They are a temperate water crab. And will be escape artist!

I have also heard of at least one example of Pachygrapsus crassipes being successfully incorporated into a reef tank, however, I'm not sure how long this was sustained:
