Any ideas? Acts though but unlike most crab hitchhikers I encounter this one just puts on a funny pose, no actual squeezing attempts. Caught on a rock full of Ricordea imports from Indonedia. Was hiding below the ears while the claws were scraping non existent food off the rocks which it then seemd to eat. Pretty much like what Emerald Crabs do.

Body shape looks very much like a decorator crab. Might just be a juvenile that hasn't started decorating itself. In my limited experience with them, they can go through a taste-testing phase with your corals if they don't have what they already like in the tank.

I see what you mean now, the pose and position of the claws resemble other decorator crab species. He'll be confined to a tiny aquarium attached into my system for now.

Any chance of a straight-on, top-down shot of the crab (i.e. so that you can see the full body of the crab from above)?
