I just found one dead out of its shell. I got them all from a lfsThe bottom might be a green stripe, not entirely reef safe as they are more opportunistic in their feeding habits than normal reef hermits and can eat corals.
Did you get these from someone or did they come from the wild?
It's probably not going to do much harm if it's tiny, they do get big though and it might kill other hermits for their shells.I have no corals or anything yet so they can do whatever they want. Tank is cycling
Oh perfect! Thank you. Couldn't find that one especially. I have a few of those. At least I did. I haven't seen a couple in some time now?Okay, the top one is a mexican red legged hermit crab and they are okay for the most part, I've had a few in my tank and they do a pretty good job as cleanup crew members.
Small hermits aren't the sturdiest from my experience and it's difficult to try and find stronger ones when the LFS person just plucks them out of a pile of hermit crabs. They also may be hiding in the rocks.Oh perfect! Thank you. Couldn't find that one especially. I have a few of those. At least I did. I haven't seen a couple in some time now?
Never understood cuc. What is that? The 2nd pic show a hermit that's common in the Atlanic here in North Florida. They are tough fast growing & will eat anything it can like other hermits & snails. we call them fennel hermits as the striped legs look like the fennel seed, kinda . Great for a cuc in the sump but I had to take them out of my displays.
