removed the rocks pretty easily ,they then walked off , they were in some live rock i got recentlyI have gotten a bunch with live rock. Along with fire worms. Those spines hurt when they get in your skin!
I would put any crab in a sump or seperate tank and study it. Better to play it safe than wake up to dead corals and CUC....I’m not sure I buy into the ‘every gray/white is a gorilla’ crab. There are red Mithrax crabs that then white over time. I image it’s related to its diet. I have a white one that I got on a piece of live rock by accident. It has the exact same cupped pinchers as my emerald and causes no problems. But it is gray with black pinchers, the typical description of a gorilla. I bought some red macro algae to see if the red color would come back.
