Crabs and water flow and outside the shell

just wondering what kind of water flow hermit crabs like and what to try to avoid nitrates? Nitrites, oh, dkh which one
The crabs I thought were dead were in fact not I have one that's outside of the shell guess he's looking for a new one, how long can they live outside of shells ( they're a little naked)

they dont care. generally they are intertidal. like with drastic salinity changes and water temps. Hit a LFS and gram some shells, theyll eat your snails ans each other for shells.
glad they didnt die BTW
DHK is bases on the tank, and they are part of that overall equation, as they use it to, as well as clams snails coral corraline etc.

As of this afternoon the big three are 0
But the one that's been out of its shell has been out since last night. He stayed hald in and out but this afternoon started climbing down the side of the tank. He's been in the same place ( on the rock and naked for 5 hours) and I been alternately the wp10 ( lowest setting - 10 gallon tank, that's all I have for current other than a fluval HOB C2 and a sponge filter.
I do have some algae growing on dry rock and have been adding some Kents purple to help along the coralline.
I'm getting ready to buy the 65 gal next week so going to buy another ten Lbs of live rock this week
