Crabs on SPS colonies

I'll go buy some Revive and try that then. I currently use Bayer but I'm a little afraid that may be too harsh on them.

I had an acro crab and i tried to leave the area he was in out of the dip... he still died. im less inclined to think that taking a full blown dip would fair any better

You could just observe the colonies in your frag tank for about a month, and don't do a dip unless you see signs of pests.

Mine all survived a 30 min revive dip, cool little protectors
this is because revive is not a very effictive dip IMO. It also seems to have negative effects on certain acropora.

Beyer is the ONLY thing i will dip with anymore. kills everything (except the corals, they always have polyps out in the dip)

I just saw this thread. I received an acro colony that had a bandit acro crab in it. I could not dip it because i wanted the crab. The crab has since moved to a larger colony. It carefully moves between the stems to keep its place clean. They are a bonus hitch hiker.

Sad update:
So I got the crabs off the colonies and there were way more than I thought. 6 total. I dipped the coral. Rinsed it like I normally do (shake it vigorously in a container of fresh saltwater, then repeat in a new container of fresh saltwater), and put it in another tank where I had been keeping the crabs. Sadly these crabs are very very sensitive to the dip because EVERY crab died within a minute of me reintroducing the coral. Even ones that didn't get back on the coral. Wish I would have transferred them to the big tank instead of trying to let them get back on the coral.

Sorry to hear that, what dip did you use?
