Hey all. I have a 29 gallon, salinity 1.022, with one bullet goby, three hermits. This week Im buying a scarlet skunk shrimp. A sally lightfoot also caught my eye. The question is, will this lightfoot cause me problems?

It will if you plan to have any coral in your tank. May also go after inverts (such as snails, etc) and possibly your skunk cleaner depending on how hungry it is. With your tank, there isn't going to be much room to space them out. They have also been known to take out smaller fish, from what I've read.

To my knowledge, the only TRUE 'reef' safe crab is either the pom pom crab, or the porcelain crab. The pom pom crab catches food with the anemones that he has in his claws. The porcelain is a filter feeder.

Even blue/red hermits will go after snails &/or each other if there isn't enough food, or if there are lack of shells provided for growth.

Even tho i think most reef crabs tend to be docile when fed well, I still tend to agree with Danroth, the sally lightfoot is fast and probably voracious. i think scarlet red hermits are fairly docile and porcelein crabs as mentioned are usually pretty hardy. White anemone crabs are excellent for reefs as well but provide them with a coral home like an anemone or ricordia colony or similar. I am not sure of the scarlet shrimp compatiblity in a small tank with the nem crab.

I like emeralds. I may end up with one. I just added a young scarlet skunk shrimp to my tank. He seems content but he just sits in the same spot all day. lol

Yeah, thats what my skunk does. After a while he moves around a bunch when the lights are off. But he is getting more brave and wondering around. He loves climbing on my hand when its in the tank... Its kind of annoying Haha.

Just suggested the emerald because I've got three in my 55 and they are awesome. They aren't afraid to move around the tank.

Nope they seem happy eating the corals. Its possible they have eating a hermit since I have way too many to count, but I doubt it.

I have two 1/2" clowns that they do not bother. Those are the smallest fish I own.
