So I decided to clean my skimmer yesterday. Its been 4 years since it was cleaned last. I cracked the body trying to remove a fitting from a uniseal. Inch and a half. The skimmer is a Nextreef XL. The acrylic is 1/4 inch thick. The crack is about 6 inches long. Should I bring it to a guy that works with acrylic or do it myself? I'm thinking I could use something to dig out the crack a little. Make a V shape where the crack is. Which would keep the glue/weld on in place and not run off to the side. What do you think? Sounds like I know what I'm doing?

I would not dig anything out. Get some Weldon 16. Put a line of it over the crack, the Weldon will seal it once it cures. I used it to repair a leaking acyrlic sump over a year ago, and it's doing fine.

I agree with tigerhawk, i used it on a geo skimmer i have and still going with no leaks from 2 uears ago

I'll just echo what they have said. Weld on over the crack and give it the recommended time to cure and you'll be back in business.

I was thinking using weld on 4 and letting the glue wick into the crack.
