so i was given a 85 gallon tank for free. I am resealing the entire thing by removing the silicone cleaning very well and putting new silicone in. I removed the top plastic frame and the frame cracked in one of the corners. whats the propper way to fix this? JB weld, melt the plastic back together, duck tape? what would be the best way

Buy new frame from manufacture

If that top plastic rim has a crossbrace integrated into it then it is likely structural to prevent bowing and i would be careful going a diy repair route.

A picture might help but I would sand the plastic (maybe even drill small holes for grip) and epoxy it with some kind of reinforcement like fiberglass.

i know silicone will keep it waterproof but ive never thought of it as something tough and structural.
It has structural applications but limited tensile strength. I think you could make silicone work of the frame isn’t too bent out of shape.

Epoxy it back together or get a fresh frame. Silicone is not the answer here.

I think epoxy would be best, if your concerned about structural integrity add a fiberglass patch.
