Cracked Reef Jar

I’m trying to patch it with superglue. Who knows, maybe it’ll work. I’m thinking I’ll try multiple layers? I slathered it on pretty well...

Keep in mind I manually removed GHA yesterday, it’s at 78°, I have no sump, just a HOB filter that I use filter floss with and a HOB protein slimmer. It’s still growing hair algae, and the turbo snails that I got haven’t ate a bite. They sleep all the time. The salinity is 1.024, I keep feedings as minimal as possible and I haven’t fed in a while. The clowns have been eating algae off the rocks. I keep having to shake off algae from the Gorgonians. Lighting schedule is about four hours on high in the afternoons after I get home from school which is around 15:45 I keep the room dark all day and Night except for a vivarium in the corner, I cover that with a towel to help keep light to a minimal. But other than that I’m not really sure what to add

ok you want to sell it? some rock some corals ,tank light?

what is your plans with it,could trade a coral or clowns w pet shop for 2 1/2 gallon,?

I'll most likely sell everything left after I get the reef jar established. I'll move over some of my favorite corals, critters, & rock. Then I'll have to keep the jar under that light until I get the special bulb and lamp to move it to my desk

My LFS only has big tanks (if any) I don’t think trading would be an option they’re mostly just fish n coral
Edit: Good thought though

That’d be cool but my mom doesn’t like me meeting up with fellow reefers (since I’ve met them all online) but I will see about it. Y’know how parents are ‘bout their young’ns. *eyeroll* I’m probably gonna sell a small BTA soon once I find out what type. I have another one that’s recovered from bleaching but isn’t crazy colors like most nems so I’m not sure if I’ll be able to sell it. There’s one other person at school that has a reef tank and they only have clowns and loads of BTAs so I might ask him if he’s interested. Plus Monday someone is buying an Aiptasia jar so that’ll be a little bit of cash.

understand, keep us posted, good luck :)

I know this won’t be a permanent fix, but I filled the superglued jar with a water to the brim. I left it outside on the porch with the lid on. I’m going to see if the waterline is lowered, It’ll probably sit for a few days or until I can get a nano heater. After that I’ll start moving corals. I’m gonna put a towel folded underneath the jar to help with weight and in case it leaks I’ll be able to tell. Later on when I have the ‘financial capital’ I’ll buy another jar. I know this may not be smart but it’s just for short term... hopefully I’ll get another jar soon. Also has anyone drilled holes in jars? I thought of connecting two... I may be overthinking it...

agree w 10 gallon!!! pmd :)

I also keep a jar reef 2gal. I've had really good luck with the aqueon heaters for something this size, I've had others that were not powerful enough or way too powerful and found this to be a nice middle ground. I tested about 10 different models to see what would work well and this was my preference here's a link sure you can find them other places tho. Wish you were closer I'd trade for one as I bought extras to ttm fish and they just sit here now.
