Cracking trim

I have a question for you guys. I just purchased a used 210 reef ready tank and while cleaning it up I noticed the trim had several crack in it. I filled it and tested it with water for several days and had no leaks. My question is if I leave the trim and wrap a steel angle iron around the tank would this be enough to help it from opening up and potentially causing a disaster? Thanks.

Buy replacement trim and re-silicone.

Unless you powder-coat the steel, I think you are asking for problems.
