Hey y’all! Got a tank I’m wanting to set up but ended up having some cracks in it...was thinking about using some weld-on and aquarium silicone to fix the issue...but was wondering what the best option would be. Thank you in advance!

What size tank is this ? Is this a front panel or side panel? Silicone won't work.

I would use weldon 3 or 4 and a needle tip and fill all those cracks.

Then get a piece of what ever size material the tank is made out of, and put that over the entire area. I would use Weldon-16 along all the edges (in all directions) put a weight on it to hold it down. And then possibly shoot some 4 in underneath to seal the sandwich.

Then 24 hours later, put the tank outside, fill it with water and let it sit for at least 3-4 days. let the sun hit the tank and cause the acrylic to heat and cool from Day to night. This will help make sure that the different materials are properly mated and won't pop.

buggered if ide fill that with water in my house!
If your having to repair it and use more acrylic too layer it up, surely just buy some acrylic and make a new tank?

There is no way on earth I would put that in my house and fill it with water and expensive fish and corals. I would just be watching and waiting for the moment it failed, probably while I was away and flooding my house!

I wouldn’t be able to relax and enjoy the tank.

If finances aren’t an issue, buy a new tank, and obviously a bigger one! Lol

If finances are an issue, get the repair kit out and say a few Hail Marys!
