So I just got a 90g with stand, sump, return pump, skimmer. Got it all for $300. Tank looks amazing caulking in excellent condition. Skimmer is octopus 110. Sump is a 29g already setup with baffles. Pretty stoked seeing how the lfs quoted me $320 just for a drilled 90!

Oh yea I will def do a build thread! So much planning and shopping to do!

Just keep an eye on the used section. T-5 and halides are on there all day long since everyone is switching to led's.

If you are into doing a DIY T5 I can give you links to what I have on my 120g and it works really well and it's cheap too.

I was looking into DIY, but don't trust myself with electrical wiring lol. Probably a good thing.

I found a 8 bulb T5 fixture I may pick up, it's a sunlight supply tek elite off of Marine Depot.

Does anyone know where to pick up some thermal controlled fans? I found some on AquaCave.com but have read loads and loads of negative reviews about that site.

Honestly the DIY I have is so easy a caveman can do it. Believe me I am a licensed electrician and I wouldn't recommend it if I didn't think people could do it. It is a mixture of a 4 bulb setup that all you have to do is screw the endcaps down at the proper distance apart and then it has a wiring harness that you plug into the ballast. Then I have a 2 bulb setup that needs wiring but it is very easy to do.

Nice find! Glad to see there are still some good CL deals out there. You must have beaten the local resellers to it.

6 bulb Tek would be more than enough for a 90.
The elite should have fans already.

So I wouldn't need extra fans even if the fixture is inside a canopy?

Yea, luckily I had a friend that was watching CL as well and he was the one who actually brought my attention to the sale.

Fans are top center, as long as there is an air gap and opening, it might work.
