Hi there! My husband bought a used 55 gallon tank off Craigslist but noticed what appears to be a bubble in the silicone seal. Our obvs concern is catastrophic tank failure on that seam. However from the outside it appears solid. Anyone able to give some advice? Thanks!

If in doubt, throw it out. You can buy new tanks for pretty cheap on sale. A few extra bucks is well worth not waking up to a flooded room full of dead fish and corals

I don't think thats a bubble, looks more like a chip in the corner.

I would take the time to re-silicone the tank before using it, but more of a concern would be the center bracing on a used tank, I would recommend to add a piece of acrylic siliconed under the bracing since I've seen a 55gallon bend 3" from front to back on a failed bracing.

That's a chip in the glass it would appear and not a bubble in the silicone. If you take a blade you can likely separate the chip from the glass to confirm. I'd throw it out if chipped.

Wait for Petco's $1 a gallon, and you'll have a brand new 55-Gallon tank for around $60 bucks; you'll sleep better too.
