Crap on bottom of sump.

It looks like there is left over organic material being released into the bottom of my sump... My sump is on the ground what would be the best method to get this out?

I use the hose from my rug shampooer and just vacuum it up.

Attached is mine I usually vacum mine once every two months no issues yet

If I don't have a vacuum, I'm guessing I can't syphon?

If you have a small pump laying around you can plug a hose in the end and suck the crap out with it

Not if it's on the floor.. Borrow a shop vac from someone? That's what I use

Home depot. Wet dry vac on the cheap. I do mine every 3 or 4th water change. Just cause I'm ocd

I can still siphon mine, I get about 3 gallons when i do mine. The top of the water in the sump is still higher than the bottom of the bucket?

If you cant they sell shop vac that can sit on top of a 5 gal bucket.

No Moulton haven't tried that yet just figured because the water line is only like 10 inches from the ground

That's exactly what I use, the only issue is that most of the buckets get sucked in at the sides... the only one that does'nt is the red sea salt bucket
Other than that it works great

It may take a little longer but I use a turkey baster and suck it up that way....I have also used a small pump but it is harder to get the corners and around the pumps, etc.

I use a turkey baster and one of the brine shrimp nets. Suck it up slowly to keep from stirring it up and squirt it into the net and let the water run back into the sump...this way you don't loose water.

Home Depot has a real cheap bucket wet/dry vac system. Its a head vac that attaches to the 5 gal buckets. I think the head and the bucket together was $20.
