Has anyone witnessed crazy color morphing in Cyphastrea spp? I hav a decadia that has turned from light pink to pink with blotches of dark metallic purple and blue in only a week.

Thanks

It was in my tank the whole time, for a good 9 months. I have it under 225 watts of vho. 2x Actinic white 1x Super actinic.

That looks great, I like the purple/blue coloring that is starting to show. Might be that it was going to be that color the whole time just took a long time for it to start to color up. I don't think that it is from to much light with VHOs but just starting showing the real coloration.....That is gonna be one sweet piece, even better then it was just pink....A lot of corals will do that even SPS when being under differant lighting to long periods of time. That is one reason I don't show new corals that I get unless I know that what it is showing if the final color. I like to show them off after they have been under the lights for a month or so just so I can let it morph if it is going to....That is gonna be a nice one with the purple/blue and pink corallites...

The funny thing is, that i have had it in my tank, in close to the same spot for 8 to 9 months. In the second pic you can notice the putty i used to set it up an inch or two higher on the rock. I wonder if that slight move was what triggered this response. I guess color morphing is more complex then i thought.
