i would Use BSI I-C GEL. its a really good glue to use If you buy in Bulk about 5-10+ tubes you can get a pretty good deal at 4.50-5$ a tube.

i would not use crazy glue. get some Reefsafe glue, i no people use it but i personally dont think its good. for the coral and your tank, But im hoping some experts will chime in.

I use any kind of super/crazy gel control! works great the glue does not work at all even if ur in a bind and that's all u got it won't work.
My favorite is the one in the blue squeeze bottle can't remember the name!

The loctite brand works well but there isnt much in a bottle. Ive started using the gorilla glue gel super glue with good luck and it has like 10x the amount of glue in the same size bottle.

Bro i would just go with the BSI I-C Gel just saying. its not runny, it cures within 5-10 seconds. dont have to use allot. No mess in less you are clumsy.

Crazy glue gel does not cause STN, but any super glue will kill the tissue that it covers. As Rob suggested, IC gel 20g tubes are the best bang for the buck.

Thanks for the correction, didnt mean it will cause it but it will burn the skin off.

I"ve used probably over 200 tubes of Super Glue gel and have never had any frags suffer RTN/STN from the glue. I put huge globs on plugs or rubble and dip fresh cuts right in them so the whole frag cut is covered and never had problems.

I've been buying the stuff at Dollar Stores for years.

I've laid frags on their sides with skin and used Super Glue gel and never had any issues either.

Same thing goes for epoxy putty.........I've used Harvey's and Rector Seal with no issues for 10 years at least. There's no need to buy expensive "reef" glues for fragging, ect.

I just clicked on that link and noticed it's the exact same incredients as Super glue Gel------ Ethyl Cyanocrylate. The only difference I can see is that it's more expensive.

I've been doing it this way for years and zero issues with RTN as a result of the glue.

I buy it in bulk at the local dollar store :nerd:

Air can cause STN, so yes superglue can too. It's all in how you use it, right?

Super glue gets quite hot when it cures and can burn the tissue of any coral that you get it on.

Superglue cures to a relatively inert form very quickly, and has great adhesion capabilities...this makes it the best choice for most fragging or mounting uses IMO. Carefully gluing skeleton to skeleton, avoiding living tissue, should not present any issues.

The only real difference between all superglues is the thickness. What you are doing with it might indicate you need something more runny like traditional super glue, or something super thick like EcoTech's glue - or something in-between. So keep in mind all "gel" formulas are not the same - sometimes not even very similar. All can be useful and none should be harmful.

Someone mentioned Gorilla Glue...lots stronger because it has polyurethane in it...seems to take longer to cure and I'm not sure what the byproducts are, or how long they may leach. Like any pollutant, I'm sure it would be tolerated in small quantities. Don't know anyone who's used it very much...think I'd stick to straight superglues in spite of the strength advantage of Gorilla Glue. Instead I'd epoxy over a superglue job if I needed more strength, if possible.

Same stuff as long as the consistency matches your need.

And honestly if you compare at $/oz, they are generally very similar - the pet store stuff is more expensive only because it's a bigger tube.

Since price is pretty competitive, I've always told people to buy what's most convenient.

I'd expect the bigger tubes in the pet store to be better for anyone doing a lot of gluing.

I don't do much, so the big tubes always dry out on me...so the dollar-store "singles" work better for me.

I wasnt advocating using normal gorilla glue. I am saying that gorilla glue the brand now makes a nice super glue gel that works well. Normall gorilla glue would not work well.

They claim their super glue is "rubber toughened" on their website along with specific performance enhancements this brings but claim nothing but cyanoacrylate (60%-100%) on the MSDS.

I have some for projects, have used a little for frag mounting and the bottle may have the best dispenser design ever...I've had it for years and it never dries out or even clogs!

However, I stick with plain super glue for general coral needs on assumption that "rubber toughened" means they've added something.

Exactly!! I've used super glue gel for years with no ill affect and I frag a few hundred frags out of my tank every other month literally.

The super glue gel i am referring to is not rubber toughened.
