As I QT fish and progress in the hobby, I think I see a pattern emerging. HOW we QT has a lot to do with WHAT we are treating. For instance, chromis and angels are tied to uronema, tangs to velvet and ich, clownfish - brook, wrasses sensative to prazi, etc, etc.

Wouldnt it be a REALLY useful sticky to chronicle what to look out for in QT by species? Like a chart listing fish type and brief tips.

I'd love to do it, but this is a job for the PhD's on the forum, not a white belt like me.

Although like most crazy ideas, it is probably just crazy.......:p

That’s a good idea fastpitch. There’s definitely certain fish susceptible to specific parasites or problems. Although most of these things can go after about just anybody. I do think it would be helpful to have a chart that lists the likely maladies for each species of fish so that the person who discovers a problem can at least start somewhere- not only for identifying, but for treatment options as well.

And here is the challenge—now a days almost any fish can carry any pathogen. The supply chain is so contaminated. Although certain fish are far less susceptible than others. All depends on how much risk you are willing to accept.
Hence, this on going work...

Both outstanding. However the first is ich dosing. Second is disease focused. I am thinking more genus/species guidance.

It's just a matter of not having enough time to write more detailed articles/guides.

I'm currently rewriting every sticky to bring them all up-to-date; and I'm also conducting experiments with Hydrogen peroxide and Chloroquine phosphate. I know @HotRocks is working behind the scenes to improve his QT protocol by making it more inclusive: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/my-current-qt-process.483371/

If anyone would like to step up and put some information into writing for the fish disease forum, please just let one of us know.

Genus/species guidance in a small decal/cling that we can keep right on the front corner glass of the QT would be awesome. All the info a a glance

The burden of doing great work. We just want more. ;)
