I’ve been hearing this noise coming from the tank late at night. It was driving me insane. I couldn’t tell where it was coming from. I just knew it was coming from the area where the tank was. It sounded like a mouse chewing on something in my walls. I could describe it as a vibrating squeaking sound. I finally figured it out. For those of you that have Trochus snails, let me tell you what they do. They have a habit of intermittently twisting their shells back and forth against the glass. I caught one red handed doing this. Twisting there bodies so to speak. The friction with their shells makes this noise I suppose. It makes a sound that can be heard from across the room. I’m just glad I don’t have mice. Just thought I’d share.
