What's up with some zoanthids growing these weird skirts? Weren't like this when I first got them. Both had short, straight skirts.

what kind of flow and lighting do you have them under? I've seen this behavior happen with good flow... still healthy healthy but kinda weird looking... :)

Lots of nondirectional random flow and under 250 14k Phoenix and Marineglow T5s. I even notice the skirts of the Rainbows starting to lengthen and twist since I moved them from just under T5 tank to this tank.
I have been target feeding pretty heavily lately too if that might be a contributing factor. A blend of Mysis, daphnea, silversides, krill mixed with Rod's coral food.

I think the biggest factors for the skirts is the flow... if you like the curly long skirts, I say keep 'em as they are since they are looking healthy and very happy... if not, then I would reduce the flow a tad at a time and see if they go back to their original look... :)

dude! those rainbows are beautiful!! hook me up when your ready! :dribble:
They are for a group growout. None for sale. After spring when they are sent away and I have my frag of them I may be able to hook you up. They are growing much faster than expected so there should be some extras.

Thanks. You are probably right. I like the skirts like this so will keep the flow as it is.
