Pretty crazy, but with the wet side being replaceable, could be worth a shot.

Yep, and I've done it in the past to the nanostreams and the older streams as well.

yeah, i did the same to a 6025, and it always wants to start in reverse now....

fortunately I have an extra wetside grill from the old wet wide assembly. I might have to give it a try....

So... I take it that they're modifying the shroud around the propeller?

Yep done it to my tunze's before. Why would you want more flow with a vortech? Don't the push enough already?

Has anyone tried this yet?

I'm thinking it could be a cheaper way to make an MP20 an MP40, though obviously only in terms of flow, not in terms of features.

Nope. There's no wireless and the MP20 doesn't have a few of the modes that the MP40 does... I can't remember which ones right off hand.

I don't understand his comment that it makes the vortech run hotter. This mod should increase the efficiency of the pump and make the motor stay the same temp or lower it. There should be less load on the pump making it run cooler. Also the vortech is a brushless motor so there is no way for the rpm to increase.
