I have this huge rock that has a bunch of closed up zoas. They've been closed up for about 6 months (since tank crashed last year) Even though I reset my tank back in Dec, got all parameters in order, and even bought new zoas that are doing great, these just aren't recovering. So the crazy question is can I turn this rock upside down to finish them off? Or will that potentially hurt the tank? I really don't want to take any chances having to scrape them off and I prefer not to take this rock out as it's pretty big and a good chunk of my scape.
I've tried many many things to get these back open and now I'm just over it and want to put something else there.

That's a good size Zoas there. What kind/s are they?
I would scrape off little by little parts of it until completely gone and possibly save it and put it aside on small frag tank.

They were all just cheapos like eagle eyes, greens, etc. I have tried everything to coax them open. Icp showed all parameters are spot on. I think there just to far gone but why they haven't completely died is really weird!
Here's a pic before my tank crashed when they are flourishing

definitely do NOT kill them in the tank, they could nuke it with palytoxin, especially with the amount of zoas on the rock.
If I were you, I would wait a few more months. If you just really want them gone, cut/scrape he off in small quantities.
Good luck and God bless!
