do they have out a hand held vac pump of sorts, that will let me pickup detris and spot clean the tank, maybe filter the water to put back in the tank, without draging out the hob mag canister filter adding water ect...or a wand with a push button valve that would cut off water flow, at a push of a button, to stop a syphon into a filter sock going back into the sump, or something like that....

you could use a canister filter with a micron bag inside it. just run the return back to the tank. you will also have to dump the water out of the canister back to the tank. i have also seen a vacum style gravel cleaner that filters water and returns to tank. here is a link, but i think these are expensive and a cheap bought canister filter will work for ya. i was thinking of getting one going myself , just havn't gotten around to finding one.

i have a magium hob now. and use the micron filter but the water in the canister is dirty,not sure on puting it back into the tank....

Do you want to use it periotically just for spot cleaning? If so just dump the canister out and clean it and start over.

yes that what i want to do, but it hold alot of water, and i dont keep any extra on hand i just mix up some a few days before i need it...

Could you clean it out and start over. this time when you are done pour the water that is in the filter in to a filter sock or someing just ge whatever might have been left. This way you will not have to let it sit full of nasty water?

couldn't you just use a fluval, or eheim canister for this? put a few sponges/ micron filters in the trays?

what I like to do is put a few very fine nets together and drain water through them

into my bucket. It usually does a good job of trapping most debris.

but if there is that much gunk to clean up mabey you should just do a water change.
