Create Refugium from Reservoir - IceCap 30

Would it be possible to create a refugium from the reservoir? It's probably not as simple as drilling two holes (one from the skimmer section to reservoir, then from the reservoir to the return pump section? Any ideas? Here's the layout with dimensions:

Another thought is to put a piece of acrylic with slots for water to break up the skimmer section like the IceCap 36XL. However, that would result in water flow from fuge to skimmer, and not skimmer to fuge. I suppose it would be ok?

Sounds like it should work. Best part of acrylic, it’s easy to modify. Only thing I can think of is having a small profile right angle drill to make a clean cut inside the ato reservoir compartment. Can always change it back to an ato reservoir with a bulkhead and end cap.

hi, did you end up converting your reservoir to refugium? How did it work out? I'm thinking of doing the same thing but just tee-off the drain to add water the refugium section and it then overflows into the return section. Thanks!
