So, I already have my tank running. I bought these two items:

I want to put the acryllic frame piece to section off my protein skimmer to put a fuge in my sump. I don't want to disassemble and use adhesive to completely section it off. I'm wondering if it would be ok to slide that 7x7 acryllic piece in with a piece of the foam to act as that 1/8inch space to completely section off the sump. Any help suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A few questions...

Is water still going to flow from one section to another?

How thick is the acrylic? Photo frames tend to be pretty thin and might not be able to hold up to the water pressure and might need a little extra support. You can get a piece cut at most big box hardware stores that should be sufficient thickness.

My sump is a bit deeper so I was able to use Brightwell Blocks and an Ikea colander to seperate my fuge and sump.

The picture frame is 1/8 inches thick the water level is inch above the Fran so it will overflow.

thanks for the reply!

So the colander just sits there?

Go to ebay and check out tank dividers. They have suction cup dividers that you slide in a piece of acrylic. Should work for what your looking to do.
