Creeks Red Sea 525xl

Another short thread update! I see fish on the horizon soon!

So first I'll start with the cycle. About a week and a half ago I did a 50 gallon water change to bring nitrite down. All it did was read dark purple with my API test kit. I Added 5 drops of bio s with water change. After another week nitrite had finally reached 0ppm and nitrates were around 100ppm but have since dropped to 40ppm.

Not sure if I should I should add more ammonia and double check or just large water change and add fish? Don't want my bacteria to die. Anyone have advice on this step?

Turned on my G4 and set its schedule last night. Waiting to transfer my G3's fish and coral.

Next I received my new Y return head from Topshelfaquatics.com this will help stop the return stream from going directly into the front glass and so I can run my return pump higher while keeping the sandbed in place. I opted for the loc line head for now since they were having issues with the regular Models. I kinda like it without the loc lines.

I also made the jump to the new apex! I Barely snuck in my purchase during the macna sale and used some of those rewards points. Also sold my classic to help out. I saw the trident and knew I will have to have it lol. I'm excited to get this and finish my control center finally!

My next point of business is fish! Finally close to the end point and time to add some fish. I only have 2 fish right now that are 100% entering the new tank. My black tang (night fury) and another tang which I will receive when I think my tank is ready. Would it be smart to wait and add them together? Or I can put my black tang in when times right. Next my debate is clownfish. There's so many clownfish and I love about 99% of them. The 1% being the longfins..now they just released the juggalos black storms etc etc.. which I'm kinda on the fence about. I think they might look really nice with my 2 show tangs. The rest is really up in the air. I have a hippo tang and coral beauty with my black tang right now that I've been debating about putting them in the new tank. Just wanted to avoid 3 tangs and knowing the hippo is getting bigger each day. Keep em or let them go?

Fish list:
Black tang
Whatcoulditbe Tang
Clownfish: premium ice, black ice, Picasso or black storms.
Hippo tang, ultra coral beauty (yes? or no?)

Thanks for stopping by my build again! Happy Reefing!

Finally some eye candy from my new tank. Transferred some corals over slowly and added some new pieces I received from reefraftusa from the Harvey auction.

Many more corals to come! I have a great fish list that's really starting to come together for Me. I setup Qt for my exsisting and new arrivals and will treat all. Excited to keep moving forward with this tank.

Thanks again for stopping by

Dang those shrooms are out of this world. You putting in the Jb? At least one of your baby. Those montis are looking good as well. My BB is hopefully starting to color up a bit more. That zoa looks wicked as well.

Thanks Matt!

I put in the eclectus and momma OG just need to get them to attach to some rubble in the back corner. I have the larger baby I kept also that is in the middle of dropping another baby. Loving these montis from reefraft also.

Did You start a new build thread on here?

I'm regarding not buying those 4 Jb from ya. lol I haven't started a build thread yet. I'll probably do so here this week. Everything seems to be growing well and I've had my rainbow bubble tip split twice already on me. I'll shoot ya a few pics after I get the lawn cut and lights come on.

Time for a much needed update!

the last week has been rough in New York with the Noreastern. We lost power for 3 days, luckily I had a battery back up and generator. Mostly everything made it, with the exception for 2 torch heads that withered away.

Running on the generator:

I lost 2 heads of the closest torch in

today brings the start of the second Noreastern. whilst being trapped inside I decided it was a good opportunity to update my build.

honestly quite a bit of time has gone by and I'm not sure where to even start.. but pictures seem to speak louder then words.

So about a month ago I began a stressful battle with some type of GHA or Turf as I suspected.

A week or 2 in to the battle.

Was very stressful, as nothing I did seemed to work. I turned to a algae reactor with the help of some H202. I also wanted to give a huge thanks to @mcarroll who reached out to me. He gave me tons of solid advice and helped me really simplify some things for the time being. within a month my algae issue was disappearing . Until the cyano shows up Atleast. This tank is still only 6-7 months old and I think starting with dry sand and dry rock my tank is still maturing and at a slower pace then my previous tanks.

Here’s a quick video of my tank now.

I also added a few things.

- acclimation box to my sump as a chaeto box
-algae reactor
- bought a cabinet to store dos and ddr
- hooked up my Dos and DDR to dose Brs 2-part.

So, as we all know reef tanks need a ton of attention. I've been super busy with work lately and just trying to enjoy my summer (Husqvarna 701sm :D). I made a few additions 2-3 months ago, but since then things have really slowed down for me. I've been trying to let the tank be and prosper on its own, with the occasional water change. I really don't do much to the tank at all anymore. I add some Aquaforest supplements and let my DOS do my Alk/Cal. I do need to clean up a few things soon in the sump and clean my skimmer.

My DOS/DDR had a bug tho, So I sent it in for some maintenance. (didn't even make it to the 6 month mark)

Tank has been doing great with SPS! finally able to keep some sticks for the first time in my reefing career!:)

My Euphillya on the other hand die after a few months. which really bums me out! :(

All in All I'm happy where my tank stands right now. Enjoy the photo Opt!
