So I thought I’ve seen some posts on this but can’t seem to find them. My BTA seems to regularly have these crinkled tips that have multiple tips. Any thoughts?

I have a suspicion that some manmade rock has a rough surface(s) that irritate the bubble tentacles. Mine was very happy in a tank with natural live rock. It started having lesions and loosing tips and tentacles in my new tank with manmade rock. I have added some natural live rock into the tank for it but it moved to another spot against manmade rock and I keep seeing loose tentacles.

my observation isn’t data :)

IMO I think it’s a variety of issues. I had the same strain of BTA and they would get wrinkled and elongated as well, split after split no matter where in the tank they were. After reading several posts I think the cause was; for this strain of BTAs the flow was too high, PAR was too strong, and this particular strain has easily deformed tentacles. I slowly sold all the splits of this BTA and moved to one that didn’t seem to have this issue. Now I have another strain that propagates easily and keeps its bubbles.
