I've left mine in the tank (with metal blade), and now coralline algae and vermitid snails are growing on it, scared it's going to scratch up my glass.

Has anyone soaked theirs in Citric acid? Any concerns?

Have one for over a year without cleaning hehe, you won't have a problem.

I've taken out the wet side of the Flipper and started a citric acid soak, hoping it cleans it up nicely. I may just start leaving it out of the water from now on. I also ordered replacement blades as mine started getting dull.

Do most people tend to leave them in tank or take them out between uses?
Mine stays inside. Just cleaned it recently in tap after sitting there year and a half. Might need to change the blade. It's not scraping algae as it once was and magnet connection seemed affected by growth in the tank. Was going to do a citric bath but too lazy to mix it up and it cleaned nicely with some elbow grease. Left out to dry to kill any algae that persisted.
