I have a Trigger systems sump that I am going to do a refugium in the one chamber.

on the right rear is the drain from the tank which is upstairs
I added a line off of the drain to go dump in the refugium.
my question is how much flow should be going through the refugium?
thanks

Your Flow depends on the purpose.

I like Chaeto, so a Fast Churning Refugium is my way.

But My refugium is 55 gallons and has a 6 inch sand bed along with 90lbs of rock as well....thats not the point here though.

the fuge generally gets the cleanest water of the tank....post skimmer.

you are using a sock so its not as important...I go barefoot into the skimmer, risky for any mollies that jump the overflow box...but then again, they are lion food anyway.

What kind of tank are you going for and how many gallons????

If that sump is hooked up to a 7 gallon tank, ur flow will be a tad smaller than that of a 250. For my 75 I have a 900gph and a 400gph for return pump, and it ALL goes through the refugium. sometimes people will tee off the return into the refugium for added flow.

IF SAND IS FLYING AROUND YOUR FLOW IS TOOO HIGH.
IF YOUR SAND TURNS RED AND SLIMY...do not smell it. Syphon it out. Increase the flow.

Lighting may be something to look into, that looks rather small...Shop lights are good if you haven't gotten to that step.
