So I'm in the process of building a 200g system. 125g display tank with a 75 gallon sump. Display is 6 ft long sump is 4 ft long. I did a lot of research on my system but that doesn't mean I know what I'm doing. I would love to hear plusses and minuses to my set up and what you guys would change. Like to hear feed back so speak up. I am not 100% sure if my tank is tempered or not so I'm doing off over flow inside a custom over flow box. Any suggestions?? I'm also curious about my baffles in my sump does it look like my water level looks accurate. Or am I missing the whole baffle consept.

Thank you for your time and info
Travis.

Your basic concept looks good but your water levels are off. The highest water level needs to be in the first section. The water level can only stay the same or be lower past a set of baffles.

Where your filter socks are you need to have an overflow built in that passes through over to the skimmer area because the socks will get clogged and overflow your sump. The height you have the socks will have to come down a bit and an overflow pass through built in. Also having baffles with macro algae going to the right to your return may be a disaster. I don't think its needed there and may encourage your algae to spill over the top. I will let people with that design chime in.
The thought of the macro algae area is to have a low flow area that pods and algae can grow. Not as much water that you can pass through your overflow going through that area. I would encourage your macro algae area to be controlled water flow and not with the current design you have. However it will work. JMO.

your overflow box wants to be setup with a minimum of 2 drains 3 is best. look up durso stand pipe or bean animal overflow and pick the best setup that suits you, the way you have it now is risky and so noisey!!
also plus 1 on your baffles your skimmer section would have to raise the water level above your last baffle into the return section.

See thats what I thought. But when I was doing my research it was hard to find anyone explaining exactly how baffles work and water engineering behind it. I will drop some new plans and hopefully these ones will actually come out correct.
