Hey just drew out my plans for my tank. Does anyone have any critiques to add? I'm new to the hobby so I could use all the help I can get. The tank is 110g. The refugium I think is about 30. Bag filter, protein skimmer. I plan to have mud in the refugium a rock, mangrove with led running on opposite schedule. In the tank 2 wave makers I'm thinking of putting about 1inch of fine sand and half live rock and half base rock.

I would say have chamber for some extra equipment like a reactor or two. And maybe decide how deep you want your water level in the sump - refugium.

are you going to build the sump/refugium yourself? either way 30 gallons is ok but more water in the sump is always better, but if it's going under the tank in a stand make sure you leave room to get your hands in there
the plumbing can be hard to wrap your brain around so good job for doing a drawing!! it will help so much as you go!

Unfortunately the refugium was already built. I got it from a friend but it worked well when he was using it

Thanks. I got the refugium from a friend. It was already built. I was estimating the size of the refugium, I'm not really sure how many gallons it is

no worries, you can always put in a second tank with a HUGE sump ... down the road of course ...... :)

Any thought about an emergency overflow?

No I have not thought about that. What exactly is that?
A second drain to your sump that is slightly higher than your main overflow inlet in case your main overflow gets plugged.

Having more space in a sump always comes in handy. Having more space for reactors, a refugium, a bigger skimmer or what not, it is hard to have too big of a sump.
