Hi All. I recent reilize these critters on my rocks. First I didn’t pay attention but today I wanted to touch them. They ended up being live and closing themselves when I want to touch them. They look like chunk of dry salt on a rock. So I removed one with a knife from the rock. I really appreciated if someone identify them and help me. Thank you in advance

Limpet or Chiton would be my first guess. It does not look like it survived though.

Was there another part of the shell remaining on the rock?

That little guy looks very much like a young oyster to me. If so, it's a filter-feeder and utterly harmless - though it would probably prefer an environment with more free-floating plankton in the water.
